The artificial intelligence era is here. You have three choices: to bury your head in the sand; to cheat in homework and exams before the education system makes proper adjustment; or to unleash your creativity and learning capacity with the help of this new technology. The future is in the hands of the next generation, it is our job to show them the infinite possibility in a world with AI. With this mission in mind, we designed this course with three main objectives: 1) Project-based learning focus on a real-world problem of their choice (picture how that could facilitate college application), so that kids get hands-on experience with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Midjourney; 2) Basic explanation of how generative AI work, such as gradient descent, convolution, and the attention mechanism; 3) Introduction to the practice of critical thinking, arguably the most important skill that is unique to human. This will be a hybrid course, consisted of a 50-mins in person session on Saturdays (11:00-11:50 or 12:00-12:50) and a 50-mins online session every Wednesday (19:00-19:50). Generative AI will empower curious child and make them smarter and more efficient. If you share the same opinion, please sign up the course.
Yuelong Guo, Ph.D., Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, currently working in a start-up company in RTP. He is leading the development of a biomarker for tumor immunotherapy by applying deep learning approaches. He has published over 20 peer reviewed journal articles, with over a thousand citations. More importantly, he is the father of two children, a 5-year-old, and an 8-year-old. Since the release of the GPT-4 model on March 14, 2023, he has been actively exploring the impact of artificial intelligence on the next generation. He firmly believes that generative artificial intelligence will make every curious child smarter and more efficient.
