CCS Math Olympiad Club

Who? Calling all rising sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who enjoy mathematical problem solving and would like to have a chance to

  • prepare for math competitions such as MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8, AMC 10 and AIME.
  • sharpen and enrich their mathematical concepts in algebra, counting, probability and statistics, number theory and geometry.
  • explore a variety of math that isn't always taught in middle school classrooms
  • inspire excellence, confidence, curiosity and teamwork through fun and challenging math problems!

When?  Every Saturday from 11:00am – 12:50pm during school year.

Where? Cary Chinese School (CCS) - located in Panther Creek High School

Your Math Coaches are Mr. Wenji Zhao and Dr. Owen Chen.

Mr.  Wenji Zhao holds dual Master degrees in Computer Engineering and Mathematical Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University, and double BA majors in the same fields from Tsinghua University.

Dr. Owen Chen is currently a principal statistician at SAS and he holds a Ph.D. degree in Operations Research from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a bachelor degree in science from University of Science and Technology of China.

The cost for the CCS Math Olympiad Club is $200/semester per student, which will cover 2-hour class instruction time and handouts and homework assignments.

The club will be limited to a maximum of 30 students and we will split students into two groups based on their levels.
